When I was a kid growing into my teenage years, and later my early adult life, I always seem to have a heck of a time figuring out what to buy my mom for mother’s day.
Now years later, I often think my own family struggles to know exactly what to buy me for mother’s day. Not that they have to buy anything. Of course, we all know “the best gifts in life are free.” While that is true, I’m going to be honest and say that gifts are always much appreciated.
So this year I finally figured out the perfect gift for any mother.
And every other mother.
The perfect gift is an experience! You know? A day-trip to the winery. An afternoon at the spa. An evening at a fine dining restaurant.
Let’s face it, what most mothers really need is a day, afternoon or evening away. A few hours to remember who they are as a woman and just enjoy a nice break away from it all. Yes please to a recharge!
You and I and other mother’s may go out and buy an item for ourselves, but what I think is often most neglected is taking time away from it all. The selfish time that we all seemingly neglect and regularly put on the back burner. So what could be a better gift than someone allowing a mom to take some time away?
This isn’t to say you and I (and every other mom on the planet) doesn’t love and adore the time we spend with our kids. I love connecting with my son every day. I love doing special things with him. But taking time away for an experience is really so important. The time you invest in yourself makes you a better mother in the long run.
How to find the perfect experience to gift to any mother.
My go-to place is Groupon’s Mother’s Day Gift Shop because it has some really awesome experiences and amazing gifts that are perfect for any mom. My personal favorite part is that you can choose a gift for another mom (ahem, or yourself) without leaving your home. A huge timesaver, and completely my kind of shopping. This is also the perfect place for your husband to shop since it will be so quick and easy to grab a great gift.
5 experiences to make the perfect gift.
These are my top 5 experiences to gift to any mother or to receive (wink, wink honey if you are reading this). You can check out the Groupon’s Mother’s Day Gift Shop or Mother’s Day Campaign for all sorts of awesome ideas in your own local area. Many of these experience are designed for two people, which is the perfect opportunity to grab a friend who is a mom too and bring her along!
1. Tasting Experience for Two The Chiselled Grape Winery (Up to 50% Off)
I love experiences that you know are for adults because the whole point of getting away for a few hours is to truly enjoy some adult time.
2. One Mani-Pedi with Paraffin and Hot Towels at Charlie’s East Coast Hair Designs (Up to 54% Off)
I’m pretty sure I get my haircut about once every six months. It’s the sad truth. Mani-pedi? Even less frequently. So this sounds so much fun.
3. Facial with Peel, Paraffin Hand Dip, and Massage at East Town Spa ($140 Value)
If you would prefer a facial and massage, then this is an awesome choice. Honestly, I would love both the mani-pedi and facial and massage. I might be getting carried away.
4. New American Dinner for Two at Tess (Up to 44% Off).
I would love, love, love to go out for a fancy dinner with a friend and just enjoy adult conversation without any interruption. So relaxing.
5. 75-Minute Sailing Tour for One Adult with Optional Beverage on Tall Ship Windy (43% Off)
I was actually really surprised Groupon carried this! Sailing sounds amazing. Years ago I took sailing lessons and I’ve always dreamed of owning my own boat someday. This would make for such a fun day.
The best part?
There are several added bonuses that you can win! I love free stuff. Who doesn’t?
This year, there is a Mother’s Day $0 Deal for 1 Year’s Worth of Spa Days on Groupon. 1 lucky mom will actually win 1 year’s worth of spa days on Groupon. How cool would that be?
Right now there is a special Sitewide Promo Code that you can use 4/27-4/28 that will allow you to receive up to 20% off up to 3 Local Deals, 3 Goods Items and 3 Getaways Flash Deals. Just use the code “SALE3” when you checkout.
Okay, let’s commit.
Go ahead and give any mom the really awesome gift of an experience. Or if you’re like me and would love an experience for yourself, go ahead and email it to your husband. Most men love it when you make it easy and to the point.
