Meet Lauren
Way back in the seventh grade, my teacher assigned a project where I had to memorize a 5-minute speech and present it to the class. Each night at home, I would practice in front of my dad. And each night, I couldn’t do it.
By the third night of trying, tears gushed from my cheeks to the floor.
My dad knelt beneath me and looked up. As our eyes locked he said, “We tackle the hard stuff first. We keep trying even when it feels impossible.”
He sat there with me until I calmed down, and then we tried again and again until the speech felt exactly like the perfect hug on my brain.
Since then, I’ve always loved tackling the hard stuff, even when it feels impossible. And I LOVE helping others do the same.
That’s what makes The Military Wife and Mom blog different: I start with your biggest challenges and walk beside you step-by-step towards actionable solutions.
I’m Lauren Tamm, and I’m passionate about helping parents, teachers, care givers and military spouses discover simple tools that minimize stress, create peace and build connection.
Rapid fire with Lauren
Who I live with: My husband, an active-duty Marine who secretly loves doing laundry, and my two very loud kids. My son, age 4, is a little bit shy but loves all-things trains, pickles and riding bikes. My daughter, age 2, is the life of the party (just like her dad) and is perfectly content so long everything is going her way and there are people around. Easy, right?!
What I do with my time: When I’m not running the blog, I love photography, organizing (it’s a sickness) and coffee. What can I say? Coffee—it’s a die-hard hobby after kids for me.
Where I live: We currently live overseas in Okinawa, Japan.
When it all began: My husband and I met at a wedding in the Midwest, where I was working as a critical care nurse at the VA. He asked me to dance. I said nope. And the rest is history ? He, too, is persistent.
Why the blog: When I first became a mom and military wife, I thought I was going to have it all figured out. My kids—and the military—have diligently shown me otherwise. I created the blog to offer a place of shared experience. We are so much stronger together.
