I keep seeing this shirt pop up everywhere: “This Mom runs on caffeine, Target & Amazon Prime”.
It’s great because…it’s true.
My happiness level would get knocked down about 10 notches, if I didn’t start my day with a cup (or three) of coffee.
Which means two things:
- The shirt is highly accurate.
- Amazon Prime is a must; and here’s why…

14 Reasons Amazon Prime is for Moms
Amazon Prime is amazing, which means now is the perfect time to try on some Jetson-style streamlining.
Here are some of the great benefits of Amazon Prime and why I absolutely love it:
The least convenient part of online shopping is having to wait for the item to come in, right? And, of course, the shipping costs can make it more expensive than just driving to the store.
With prime, you have access to all prime items at FREE two day-shipping rates. (In some metro locations, you even get free same-day delivery.)
No minimum order size and unlimited deliveries—meaning you don’t have to remember in that moment all of the things on your list to avoid making another trip to the store. If you forgot something you were going to order, it takes only a second to pull out the Amazon Mobile App on your phone and order the item really quickly.
So. Much. Easier.
I also love using our Amazon Prime account to send gifts to all of our family and friends. Since we don’t live near family it really helps reduce the cost of mailing presents by ordering off of Amazon and shipping for free.
When signing up for Amazon Prime make sure to select the Amazon Family membership. It’ll save you off of diapers subscriptions and give you discounts on additional family items.
We subscribe to all of our diapers, pull ups, wipes, toilet paper…all of it. We get a certain amount off of the diapers, but then I subscribe so they all arrive at the same time giving me the additional amount off of my subscribe and save order because I subscribed to 5+ items.
Not only is it affordable, but it saves me a ton of cart space while I’m at the grocery store, which as you know is a precious commodity.
(And psst…if you’re expecting a new little one, make sure to register with Amazon and you’ll get an additional amount off of eligible registry items with your Amazon Family membership.)
Amazon Prime comes with a huge selection of video streaming options. You have the option to buy or rent movies and TV shows but there are also thousands of movies and TV shows free with Prime.
We used to pay for Netflix but now with access to the Amazon Prime video library we don’t need it anymore. My kids love to watch Daniel Tiger, Finding Dory, and other great content for no additional cost. Not to mention, I watched all 6 seasons of Downton Abby free with Amazon Prime.
Oh, and one of the best features? You can download the prime content onto your device so that you can watch without streaming when you aren’t hooked up to your WiFi. This is a road trip sanity (and money) saver!
4. Amazon Music
Prime has a ton of free music too: over two million songs. And again, you can download the music so that you can hook it up and listen to it in your car without having to stream it. We love their preset playlists and that there are no commercials!
If movies and music aren’t your thing, check out the Prime Reading library. Don’t have a kindle? No problem.
Download the Amazon Kindle app onto your phone or tablet and read on the device of your choice. Again, there is a large library of content that includes books, magazines and audible narration. There are some great children’s books in the library as well.
Prime photos is a great place to store your photos for no additional cost and it’s a great place to create family sharing! The Family Vault allows you to share this photo storage with up to five other people (family or friends) and have a central location to safely share your memories.
Amazon’s awesome technology allows you to easily search and organize your photos as well! You’re already paying for prime to get the awesome free, 2-day shipping and other features, why not stop paying for your cloud storage and share your photos here already included!
As an Amazon Prime member, you also get 30-minute early access to Lightening which are released at designated times and limited to availability.
If you are a savvy shopping and love a great deal, you’ll definitely want to check out this benefit to make sure you’re scoring the best price on all of your favorite items.
If you love the great kids’ books, movies, and TV shows make sure you check out the FreeTime Unlimited special that comes with the Amazon Family membership.
You can subscribe at a special rate and have access to unlimited kids content and educational apps and games. There are no ads, in-app purchases, and there are excellent parental controls that allow you to choose the content your child has access to, educational goals and time limits.
9. Prime Pantry
For a flat shipping rate per box, you can fill a box full of your go-to grocery, household and pet care items and have them delivered to your door.
Also, note that if you don’t need other orders you make in two-days you are often given the option of selecting 3-5 day shipping in exchange for getting a Prime Pantry credit which makes the shipping free for your next Prime Pantry box.
Now you can get an Amazon Dash Button for all of thing things you regularly use around your house. It connects via WiFi and Bluetooth to your phone and when you press the Dash Button Amazon automatically reorders the product associated with it.
Initially amazon charges you for the button, but as soon as you make your first purchase with it they credit that back to you, so the button itself is really free.
Grabbing the last roll of paper towels off the shelf? No problem, press your dash button and you’ll receive your next supply of paper towels at your doorstep two days later.
Seriously, what mom wouldn’t benefit from this streamlining?
This is Jetson-style shopping.
If you have a Kindle and Amazon Prime membership, you also have access to the Lending Library where there are no due dates and you can download one free book per month to read on your Kindle.
12. Kindle First
This perk gives Kindle First members the opportunity to snag one free book a month from a list of six editors’ picks a month before they are released. This is just included in your Amazon Prime membership, no extra cost!
Without an Amazon Prime membership, you can sign up to have access to Amazon’s Audible Channels. As a prime member, it’s free. There are great collections to streaming best sellers, family favorites, classics and more.
Do you have a gamer in your home? Being a Prime member allows you to link your Twitch account with your Amazon Prime membership and you’ll get ad-free viewing on Twitch, a free Twitch channel subscription every month and access to free game content. If you have a physical game you want, you’ll also get discounts on pre-orders and new releases.
This is a great time to stock up on your family favorites, buy gifts in advance, or just enjoy a little summer fun!
Did I mention you get 30-day Prime free trial? Check it out, risk free.
